Dresden, 30 October 2024 – WAGO GmbH & Co. KG, a global leader in electrical connectivity and automation technology, has announced the implementation of the Advanced Planning and Scheduling System (APS) GANTTPLAN from DUALIS GmbH IT Solution. This strategic move aims to address the growing complexity of detailed capacity planning across multiple production sites. GANTTPLAN Expert empowers WAGO with multi-resource scheduling capabilities, optimizing tool combinations and enhancing employee scheduling.
WAGO’s products and solutions play a key role in ensuring safety and efficiency across various industries, including railway, energy, marine, offshore, and building technology. The family-owned WAGO Group operates nine international production and sales locations, along with 22 additional sales companies and agencies in over 80 countries.
As WAGO continues to grow, the demands for speed and variety in production have outpaced the capabilities of its previous planning and scheduling system. Christian Dewald, Vice President of Corporate Supply Chain Management at WAGO, explains:
“In a comprehensive Proof of Concept, we mapped out 23 use cases, incorporating them into a prototype planning model with GANTTPLAN. This covered around 230 requirement points, all of which were reliably demonstrated within the standard functionality of APS GANTTPLAN Expert. With a coverage rate exceeding 80 percent, we decided to integrate this solution into our existing IT infrastructure.”
GANTTPLAN is now up and running at WAGO, integrated with their SAP ERP system as an add-on module. This new solution allows WAGO to create optimized sequences at individual workstations, perform dynamic setup optimizations and fully automate order scheduling across various plants.
Jörg Schönheit, Head of IT Manufacturing Solutions at WAGO, explains:
“The GANTTPLAN software automates the intricate planning of our WAGO UNIVERSAL MOLDING SYSTEM, meeting our high standards for data transfer performance and the efficiency of planning, scheduling and optimization processes.”
With the new APS, WAGO can generate realistic, error-free plans multiple times a day, accommodating all complex dependencies. This is particularly beneficial for industry-specific requirements in injection molding and stamping. The solution also offers employee scheduling functions, utilizing a qualification matrix and process qualification to address bottlenecks early.
Christian Dewald adds:
“With the DUALIS software, we can simulate capacity expansions and plan for the medium and long term. The APS provides transparent planning of the entire value chain, reducing administrative workload and production costs through more efficient processes.”
