Dresden, April 15, 2025 – Before the first screw is in place, the machine is already running at full speed – at least virtually. In modern factories, the Digital Twin plays a key role. Through simulation and virtual commissioning, machines and processes can be tested, optimized and potential errors eliminated even before the real construction. DUALIS GmbH IT Solution and its new partner EDAG Production Solutions are combining their expertise and portfolios in these areas, thus expanding the possibilities for users.
Production processes are becoming more complex, and require precise planning and optimization. The digital twin is an essential tool that connects the real and virtual worlds. It not only allows individual machines to be simulated, but also entire production lines and production environments under realistic conditions. In conjunction with virtual commissioning, it is possible to identify errors at an early stage, shorten commissioning times and optimize processes.
The cooperation between DUALIS and EDAG aims to provide extended support for virtual commissioning. The collaboration combines DUALIS’ expertise in the field of simulation and planning software with EDAG’s know-how in the planning and implementation of flexible production systems.
The 3D simulation software Visual Components, distributed by DUALIS, enables the realistic mapping of production environments. It allows companies to create digital twins of their manufacturing plants, simulate processes and carry out optimizations. The software provides an intuitive platform for the virtual testing and adaptation of production processes.
With the ISILOG solution, EDAG brings an extension to the partnership that enables the connection of commercially available controllers and co-simulators. The use of open FMI/FMU standards ensures a high degree of flexibility and interoperability of the systems. This facilitates the implementation of a consistent virtual commissioning and ensures improved planning and process reliability.
The cooperation between DUALIS and EDAG regards the digital twin as an integral part of the entire lifecycle of a production plant – from planning and implementation to operation. By combining their technical solutions and know-how, the partners support companies in optimally designing and continuously optimizing the entire lifecycle of their production systems.
“Together, we offer companies a complete package of software tools and services to make virtual commissioning even easier and faster,” explains Ralf Dohndorf, Vice President Factory Simulation at DUALIS.
A particular focus is on the flexibility and adaptability of the solutions. “Companies can either learn how to create and use the Digital Twin themselves or, if necessary, through training, or outsource the entire implementation to DUALIS and EDAG. This ensures that even companies with limited internal resources can benefit from the advantages of virtual commissioning,” says Ralf Dohndorf.
